The story began 10 years ago for NUMERYX, but it’s been even longer for the founder and current CEO, Prof. Dr. Mondher AYADI.
1) Who is the founder of Numeryx?
Mondher AYADI, PhD in energy conversion, began his career in the UK in the world of automotive engineering.
Project Manager for over 3 years, he was responsible for a team of engineers working on engine and vehicle development for major brands such as Ford, Saab, Renault and PSA – Peugeot Citröen.
After that, our CEO was Business and Operations Manager at ALTRAN for over 6 years, working to develop the Group’s engineering business (mainly in the automotive and energy sectors).
Between R&D and innovation projects, Mondher has managed a large number of projects, with around twenty people under his direction, not counting project managers or experienced engineers, to build and steer an in-house innovation project.
He has forged commercial and strategic links with major manufacturers such as ArcelorMittal, AnvisGroup, Areva, Bouygues Telecom, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault, Faurecia, Valeo, and Johnson Control, to name but a few.
Following this, and for almost 2 years, Mondher worked at Siemens in engineering and innovation for companies in the automotive, aerospace and other advanced manufacturing industries.
2) Why Numeryx was created
March 26, 2012, Montigny le Bretonneux (Yvelines):
Madly in love with innovation, and unable to see himself as a mere employee throughout his professional career, it was quite natural for Mondher AYADI to turn to entrepreneurship. Drawing on his previous experience, his commercial and strategic skills, his network, and the industrial environment he had worked in for over 10 years, he quickly made the connection to create and found NUMERYX.
3) What did Numeryx look like in the beginning?
When it was founded, NUMERYX was a service company based on a Third-Party Application Maintenance (TMA) model, focusing on industrial sectors and operating in the Ile-de-France region. Its first premises in Montigny-le-Bretonneux were no bigger than 20m². Mondher quickly adopted a participative management style, being very close to his staff and always available for everyone.
It’s a management style that has never left him since, and which today makes Numeryx a company with a strong focus on people, their career plans and their day-to-day professional fulfillment.
4) What were Numeryx’s early successes?
By reconnecting with former customers he had met during his early career, Mondher was able to quickly reconnect with the automotive industry and IT engineering.
During the 2012/2013 financial year, NUMERYX signs a framework agreement with Atos. During this period, NUMERYX registers a patent for a “new filtering technique” for cybersecurity.
In 2014, business is going from strength to strength, and NUMERYX is extending its know-how into new areas such as software development, application development, and Test & Validation.
That same year, NUMERYX joined the Systematic competitiveness cluster, became a member of the Syntec Cinov convention, and took part in the Mobile World Congress international telecoms trade show in Barcelona.
The company hires, and moves first to a 66m² space, then a second time in 2016 to a 230m² space, again in Montigny-le-Bretonneux.
In 2015, between two moves, NUMERYX made Research & Development and Innovation a major strategic development focus.
In 2017, halfway through its existence, NUMERYX began research work withInria – the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology.
During the 2017/2018 financial year, NUMERYX achieved +100% growth.
In 2018, Mondher decided to set up a profit-sharing scheme at NUMERYX, so that the company would belong to all employees, with the aim of future-proofing the business.
Starting this year, the company will be active in new business sectors such as IT Networks, Cloud and Infrastructure, Embedded Development and Digital Transformation.
5) Numeryx expands internationally and changes dimension
In 2019, NUMERYX will open its subsidiary NUMERYX Tunisie in Tunis, to become both its nearshore service center and its Delivery Center, its R&D center now called “Numeryx Lab”, which will considerably help NUMERYX develop its Cybersecurity know-how.
The NUMERYX Lab will also become an incubator for innovative projects, leading to new offerings such as DevOps, DevSecOps and AI.
The Tunisian subsidiary quickly won work for well-known customers such as Deloitte and PWC, as well as government bodies including several Tunisian ministries.
The Tunis-based subsidiary will then become a gateway to the MEA region (Africa and the Middle East) to further develop NUMERYX’s activities abroad.
In the same year, NUMERYX launched a CSR program to support education in Tunisia, and to equip underprivileged children to attend elementary school and receive an education.
6 ) Numeryx University opens its doors
The same year, in 2019, NUMERYX will create its own training organization. The primary aim of this creation is to train all NUMERYX employees in France and Tunisia in new skills, so that they can develop their career plans and enrich their experience and professional background as much as possible.
In 2021, NUMERYX is continuing its expansion on French soil by opening a new branch in Le Havre. It will quickly take its place in a strong industrial region, where industrial cybersecurity is in demand, and where the application of the Internet of Connected Objects (IoT) is also in demand.
It’s in Normandy that NUMERYX joins the TES cluster, a competitive cluster focused on cybersecurity and digital innovation.
NUMERYX is also recruiting for a CIFRE thesis with ENSICAEN – the Ecole Publique d’Ingénieurs Centre de Recherche de Caen – to carry out research into Cybersecurity applied to the IoT.
In 2022, NUMERYX opens the doors of its second branch on French soil in Lyon, to conquer the Rhône-Alpes region and move closer to the PACA region.
At the start of this year, NUMERYX University has been awarded the Qualiopi certification for 140 training courses in its catalog, available both internally and externally.
7) Numeryx celebrates its 10th anniversary – what’s next?
Of course, NUMERYX isn’t stopping there, and has an ambitious growth plan to 2026.
First of all, in the summer of 2022, the company will be moving into its new premises, which will be almost three times larger than its current 600m² premises, i.e. 30 times larger than its very first office.
Next, NUMERYX plans to reach a milestone of 500 employees by 2026, compared with around 200 today.
Expansion of its activities on African soil is underway, with the first work due to start in three new countries during the course of the year.
The conquest of France is also on the agenda, with the opening of at least two new branches in two major metropolitan areas.
The strengthening of activities in Cybersecurity, R&D&I, digital transformation and training all showed encouraging signs during the first quarter of 2022.
